Membership Meeting

The next meeting of Living Local is July 14, 2014 at 6:30 PM at Center Square Grill (formerly Spoleto Restaurant) in East Longmeadow.

The June meeting was such a success that the Steering Committee decided to have to repeat the "Meet and Greet" format for this upcoming meeting. There will be a cash bar and free appetizers to enjoy while we get to know each other!


We will also be discussing details of our upcoming 2nd Annual It's in the Bag! promotion. Last year's event was a great success.

Deadlines for participation will come very quickly so make sure you get the scoop as to how to participate by attending this next membership meeting on July 14.

Membership Meeting- June 2

June is here!

The next meeting of Living Local is June 2nd at 6:30 PM at Center Square Grille (formerly Spoleto Restaurant) in East Longmeadow.

We have met so many new people at the Home Show and during Long Meddowe Days last month that we thought it would be great to have a "Meet and Greet" Meeting this time. We have lots of new members that we would like to officially welcome to this meeting as well. There will be a cash bar and free appetizers to enjoy while we get to know each other!

Living Local at Long Meddowe Days

 

Our Living Local organization will be at Long Meddowe Days on May 17-18 both as a event sponsor and as a participant with a Community Booth. We hope to be able to communicate our message of Eat. Shop. Live. to many visitors at this event.

We have invited Laury Hammel to speak to us about our new Living Local organization and how to continue to grow its membership and influence in our community.

In 1988, Laury founded the Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts (SBN) and he is its Executive Director.  The SBN has grown to almost 1,000 business members and several Local First business networks.  In 2001 Laury co-founded the national organization called the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) and for the first six years he served as its co-chair. Laury is a frequent speaker about local sustainable economies, and is also the author of the book, Growing Local Value, which features over 20 local businesses that have made major contributions to their communities.

Laury is the President and CEO of The Longfellow Clubs of Massachusetts. His business includes health and sports clubs, holistic health centers, children’s centers, and camps that serve 10,000 members. Honored by the Boston Globe as one of the top places to work in MA, Longfellow is a recognized industry leader in innovative business practices, environmental responsibility, and community service.

Living Local Membership Continues to Grow Rapidly

With the addition of White Hut, Inc., Joseph Racco Roofing, Inc. and NRG Real Estate Services, Inc. our membership is now at 70. 

With our planned participation at the 2014 Home Show from March 27 -31, 100 members is not too far away!

There will be Home Show info/ training for all those manning the booth and helping us become successful at this important event.  

We can still use some additional volunteers.
